The cities of the Palos Verdes Peninsula host over 62,000 Southern Californians in a quiet shoreline communities in the Coastal area of Los Angeles County. Its native spanish-american name, translated into English, means "green sticks" due to the tall trees that were growing on the peninsula. Originally founded in 1846, the towns first originally purchased from the Mexican government by the Sepulveda family for ranching.
